EPL: Petr Cech opens up on new players at Chelsea

Chelsea’s technical director, Petr Cech, has said that he is ‘living on his phone’ as the club look to strengthen their squad at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea would look to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title next season after finishing in the third position last season.

New owner Todd Boehly is said to have readied £200m to sign new players this summer.

Chelsea have seen the likes of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger leave the first team for Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively and the Blues are linked with Ousmane Dembele, Jules Kounde from Sevila, and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling.

Striker, Romelu Lukaku is said to be desiring a return to Inter Milan and Tuchel, at a minimum, would want to sign a replacement for Rudiger and Lukaku.

Cech is anticipating a ‘busy summer’ at Chelsea and insists the West London club will look to be active in the transfer market and make the squad ‘as strong as possible’.

“I live on the phone! It will be a busy summer. We will plan, prepare and try to be as strong as we can next season,” Cech, a former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper, said, according to Metro.

“I think everybody knows where we are in terms of the team. Of course, we will try to strengthen the team.

“We want to do the best possible and be ready to compete next season. It’s going to be a tough season with a World Cup in-between so we need to be ready for that.”
